- ciscosurfing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Cascading generally refers to the fact that style sheet properties cascade through your markup. Think of a cascading waterfall. What does the water do? It falls downward, yeah? So does CSS code: You apply a property or set of properties to a section of your markup (e.g., an ID, a class, a span) and that code is then called on every time that piece of markup is called on the page. CSS separates the style from the structure and can be used on any XML document. Some CSS can be quite complex, but in general, it's a way of simplifying your code. (I want the same color, for example, on every #Fun element I have. I code it once in the CSS, and voila, I'm done! Conrast this with having to list the color you want every time a #Fun element appears, and you can see quite quickly how much code you save, and for that matter, how much more organized your code appears). It's a logical way of creating Web pages today.
- dotdan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3At first I was skeptical, but that puzzle thing is just downright cool.
- cmiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not the first time on digg... but certainly worth a look! He's got some great ideas and layouts all in valid xhtml and css.
edit: ...why is everyone being dugg down? - Sergio965, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, some amazing CSS displays on the site - things I never thought possible with CSS before.
Great site - too bad it's lagging because of all the traffic. - solidcube, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I misread that as "Cosplay.co.uk."
I'm so glad there's not a Digg cosplay section. Yet. God save us from cosplay. - jmz635, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Very nice resource!
- streetblader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very cool. This will come in handy!
- Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Looks like even an efficient CSS based page can be bought down by the power of 8 million guys avoiding doing work by browsing digg.
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I need someone to put together a menu in a template I'm working on, similar to this one: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/final_drop.html - I'm pulling my hair out trying to integrate this into my relatively simple CSS-styled page, and I have too many other deadlines to be worrying about right now. If there's an experienced CSS coder who can work for a reasonable rate, please email me at chrishigh at msn dot com.
The template I'll need it coded to is similar to this one, though I've begun any modifications: http://fullahead.org/work/greenery/
Thank you!!
PS Call this off-topic if you must, but there's no other way for me to tell who's good at this, and there's not a requests section on here or anything... :( - webbyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very handy resourse, will be using it alot in the future i can tell :P
- airmann90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ver nice site, well worth the visit. Plenty of ways to spruce up a website can be found here...
- smoreorless, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0UK Release Dates - http://www.allreleasedates.co.uk
- Sblader5, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3thats a great site
- benn0280, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4This was on here somewhere else quite a while ago.... even still... its an excellent website
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It shows up about once a month, actually. They used to have a great rating system built into the site, which made finding the good themes a snap. Unfortunately it was removed a couple months back, so there's some more sifting that has to be done.

psd2html.com team - vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Very nice resource indeed, but this site has been digged every other month now.
- mzkw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Working fine here.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Any site that would advertise with psd2html.com is no good in my book.
- seventen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why is this site digged every other week. Granted its a great site, but enough already
- flinx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I believe "Cascading" refers to the fact that styles can be overwritten as you go, allowing you to strategerize the look by starting general, then getting specific as needed.
I could be wrong though. - DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Ugh.... Didn't you get any warnings about duplicate stories?
This site has been submitted a hell of a lot of times now. Yes, it's great, and yes it's got some cool stuff, and yes, this may be the first time that many people see it, but if people want things like this, they can search for past articles.
Sorry, buried (along with my comment, no doubt! ;)) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Dugg to death already. Nothing to see there, please move along.
- Muddle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Scientologists appear to be DDOS'ing all comment on DIGG. None of those discussion load now.
- Muddle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Scientologists are now censoring comment on DIGG as well as DDOS'ing previously posted discussion threads.
I've submitted complaints to Register, Inquirer and Slashdot. - palmer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1But does it say what is "cascading" about the style sheets?
Year after year, people keep using this term, but nowhere do you see an explanation.
